NEXT MEETING: Thursday November 28, 2024 at 7 pm at Muir Lake Hall
755 Parkland Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron (755 RCACS) strives to provide a diverse aerospace educational program that helps develop the leaders of tomorrow by offering them a variety of opportunities that foster excellence, leadership and citizenship. We pride ourselves in being able to offer the wide variety of optional programs that are minimally or not covered by DND such as our band, biathlon, marksmanship and effective speaking groups as well as access to team building activities like swimming and bowling and more. Our ability to offer strong optional programming is a huge draw for our cadets and families.
The SSC is responsible for generating funds to meet the Squadron’s many financial needs. At present, the annual cost to run our Squadron is about $32,000 each year. Although there are no upfront costs for families, at present with roughly 70 cadets that works out to roughly a cost of $460 per cadet. This is raised through donations and events such as casinos, silent auctions, cash calendar, bottle drives, and various fundraising programs. It is vital for families to take part in the fundraising activities that are held by 755 RCACS.
The SSC, must annually elect an executive volunteer board of directors. The elections are held at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) which will be held in May/June of each year. These individuals work on behalf of all families in roles defined by the SSC’s By-laws. The executive works in partnership with the military side of the squadron represented by the Commanding Officer and staff, and the Air Cadet League.
We understand everyone’s time is important beside the AGM we will hold roughly 2-3 parent meetings a year as important information arises. We strongly encourage all parents/guardians to attend these meetings as a wealth of information is shared about Cadet functions, the progress being made toward special activities and initiatives, date or schedule changes, and opportunities to ask questions and gain a better understanding of the program.
Families will also be kept up to date on what is happening with the squadron through announcements made Thursday nights at closing parade (9 pm) as well as through our website and by email. If you have any questions, please reach out to our SSC members via email as listed above.
In addition, the SSC organizes volunteers for non-Cadet based activities. We support the Squadron by:
Although the efforts of the Committee seem large, many volunteer parents share it. We strive to make most fundraisers into fun events for parents and Cadets alike. Considering all the amazing opportunities that are provided with no up-front costs to your Cadet, the effort is a small one. Please come out and see what you’re missing.
